Levensverhaal Chisomo Segula

Chisomo Segula

My name is Chisomo Segula. I was born on May 29th in 1996 in a family of two girls and I am the first born. I lost my mother when I was seven and my little sister was just months old and this was the beginning of a number of puzzling circumstances that my life has faced so far. We were raised by our grandmother who is a peasant farmer.

I completed my secondary school in 2013 and in 2014 I was selected to enrol at Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources. However, due to lack of funds, I failed to enrol and luckily, the University could reserve my place for a year. While I was still searching for funds to finance my studies, I met a pastor who listened to my story and introduced me to ReachOut Education Support Foundation. I was glad when the foundation included me as one of the beneficiaries of their program. Unfortunately my place at Lilongwe University of Agriculture was no longer available. I successfully applied to Domasi College of Education using the same results I scored in 2013 and joined the college in 2017 with full support from ReachOut Education Support Foundation. I am looking forward to complete my studies in the coming year and participate productively in the society.

I am thankful to ReachOut, that as a girl child, I would have been married off much earlier because of desperation just like many of my peers are. My future looks brighter because I shall be self-reliant, but I will also help to positively develop my country by imparting what I have learnt to others either at another School or local community. Thanks again and may God bless ReachOut Foundation and all who support us.
