Nellie Mtalika
I am Nellie Mtalika born on 26th December 2000 in a family of three children; two girls and a boy, and I am the youngest.
My mother died in 2003 when I was about two years old. Then my father remarried and took us to stay with his new wife. The stepmother accepted us as her own children, she was a very good woman, a very good mother, and she had taken good care of us. Unfortunately, later, my father dumped this kind-hearted stepmother together with us his children and went for other women and since then, he has never come back to see us. The stepmom continued to look after us with love but had always struggled financially. My grandmother, who is very old now, decided to call us back in order to relieve our kind-hearted stepmom.
While with grandmother, I continued to go to school and in 2016 I was selected to join Form 1. Life was tough as my grandmother could not afford to pay for my school fees and other necessities. By grace, ReachOut Foundation came into play and started paying for my school fees in full. Actually, I now moved into a very good boarding secondary school and in addition, ReachOut gives me some money every month for my upkeep.
Notes mid 2024:
Meanwhile Nellie is in her third year of her university studies. She is expected to sit for her Diploma in Child Care this year (2024) at the Malawi Assemblies of God University.
